On Tuesday 21st May, children from Years 4 and 5 across all three schools in the trust came together at The Julie Rose Stadium in Ashford for our first Athletics Event. Although the weather was not on our side, our spirits weren't dampened at all! The morning saw a carousel of different Olympic events including running, jumping and throwing events, some of which were paralympic events. The children participated in cross-trust groups where they were able to work together and make new friends from the schools in the trust.
Aspart of the event, two Olympians gave talks to the children, inspiring them with their stories and highlighting the importance of hard work and collaboration. The children's listening and questions were fantastic and they can't help but have taken something away from people who really have performed at the highest level.
In the afternoon, after a lunch singing along to classics like 'Sweet Caroline' and others, the competitive races began and children represented their schools in the 400m, 100m sprint and relays. To top it off, our visiting Olympians presented medals to the children who finished on the podium.
A huge thank you to the team who pulled everything together to create a truly memorable experience for our children.
