Leadership Support
Leading a school is a wonderful role, but can be challenging. At Coppice, we seek to support our leaders so that they can have the head space to do their jobs and also have somewhere to turn when they need to.
Executive Leadership Meetings
Our headteachers, deputy head teachers, trust leader, trust teaching and learning lead and CFO meet regularly to discuss prevalent issues – everyone here has a voice and we work through challenges together. This includes sharing ideas, offering and asking for capacity and working together to make important decisions.
Standardised Policies
If it can be written in a manual, then we only do it once at Coppice. Many policies fall into this category and so we work towards standardising many. Our leaders are always consulted on the policies and have input into these specific details, but we try to remove the burden from headteachers.
Joint Coaching Days
Working with an executive leadership coach, our headteachers meet with the trust leader and trust teaching and learning lead three times a year to work through complex issues in an open way. Sometimes this is linked to trust wide work, but we also use 'Action Learning Sets' to help each other solve specific challenges.
